Top notch: Health Trainers were recognised at recent Health and Wellbeing Awards

Middleton-based charity Health for All is one of 26 organisations to be recognised as part of the Royal Society for Public Health’s (RSPH) annual Health and Wellbeing Awards for their work to promote health and wellbeing.

HFA’S Health Trainers gained a one-year award, which is given to organisations that showed a planned approach to developing their health improvement capability and practice.

The aim of the Health and Wellbeing Awards is to recognise achievements in the promotion of health and wellbeing through activities, policies and strategies which empower communities and individuals, improve the population’s health and address the wider social determinants of health.

The scheme receives submissions from all organisations that promote health and wellbeing as part of commissioning, operational support or service delivery. Local authorities, health organisations, education providers, social enterprises, voluntary/charity organisations and private sector organisations in the UK are all invited to apply.

HFA chief exec Pat McGeever said:

“I’m delighted that Health for All has been recognised for our work supporting vulnerable people to turn their lives around.

“Our Health Trainers provide practical help, advice and motivation to people wanting to improve their physical and mental health – and all the evidence shows this personal approach really works.

“It’s not about being judged or told off for eating the wrong things or not getting exercise. We know how hard it is fitting everything in.

“Health Trainers can offer anyone free information and support, thanks to the funders. It’s a wonderful service, and well deserves this accolade!”

Now in their eighth year, this year’s awards have seen double the number of participants and winners from 2014, with 26 organisations achieving awards across all three levels.

Health for All is based at Tenants Hall in Acre Close, Middleton.
